Applying for Jobs in France

Don’t worry that’s a stock google image. Just a quick tip. If you want to apply for jobs, that are not English teaching jobs, but proper CDIs, you’ll need to have a translation of your CV in French. You will also be asked to add things you aren’t used to in America. 

For instance it has to have a photo of you, you should list your address, your marital status, and if you have kids. Technically EU guidelines state they are not allowed to ask for these things, but many French companies still do. I know you run the risk of annoying them if you tell them that, but just be aware. CVs in France are different from America, and you don’t want to run the risk of yours being rejected if it doesn’t adhere to French standards. 

Also helpful information, the types of contracts offered in France:

1. Contrat à Durée Indéterminée (CDI): contracts with an unlimited term (they can’t fire you).

2. Contrat à Durée Déterminée (CDD): fixed term contracts

3. Contrat Temporaire ou d’Intérim: part time or temporary contracts.
